Two Arrests in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack
An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.
A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.
The arrests come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, two women had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.
A toddler aged three was among the those hurt in the event. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later discharged.
Police detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault near the scene. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.
Police were called at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of individuals hurt by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.
The attack - which authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
